Who I Am

My name is Chandis Saunders, and I am a dedicated educator, certified doula, and passionate advocate for mothers and babies. I was born in Northern Utah and later moved to St. George, where I finished growing up through my high school years in Southern Utah. Now, I’m raising a family of three kids with my husband, who is a chiropractor. I have a master’s degree in education and am committed to my family and the birth community in Southern Utah.

Being a doula is more than just a job for me—it’s a calling. I absolutely love supporting women through the transformative journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing the strength of a mother, the beauty of birth, and the deep connection between families as they welcome a new life. I am passionate about providing education, comfort, and encouragement, ensuring that every family I work with feels empowered and supported. Whether it’s offering emotional reassurance, physical comfort, or evidence-based guidance, I am honored to be part of such an intimate and life-changing experience.

Outside of my work, I love spending time outdoors, whether I’m running or enjoying quality moments with my family. My love for birth, education, and the natural world all intertwine in my approach to supporting families—helping them feel strong, confident, and deeply connected through one of life’s most profound experiences.

Why TruRoots

My own birth experiences played a huge role in shaping my passion for birth work. After having hospital births with my first two children, I found myself deeply reflecting on the way birth is handled in different settings. While I was grateful for the care I received, I couldn’t shake the feeling that birth could be more intuitive, more supported, and more centered around the mother’s needs. This led me to explore home birth, where I discovered the beauty of undisturbed, empowered birthing experiences. That journey pulled me toward birth work, igniting a passion for supporting women in making informed, confident choices about their own births. I quickly realized how invaluable a doula is in this process—providing emotional support, advocacy, and physical comfort in a way that transforms the birth experience. Whether at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital, having a doula by your side can make all the difference in feeling heard, respected, and empowered through one of the most life-changing moments of your life.
